George W. Fisher was a son of Adam Fisher, a soldier of the War of 1812, who was born 14 Jun 1782 in Mercer County, Kentucky. He removed to Jackson County, Missouri, in 1836 and settled on a farm four miles east of Independence. He died 22 Feb 1860 at his home and is buried in Lobb Cemetery, about nine miles east of Independence. Adam Fisher was the son of Adam Fisher Sr., a Revolutionary soldier who was born July 1740 in Culpeper County, Virginia and died July 1812 in Mercer County, Kentucky. He married Elizabeth Garr/Gaar.
Adam Fisher's 1812 service was as a private in Captain Jeremiah Briscoe's company of Kentucky Mounted Volunteers, Fifth Regiment, commanded by Lt. Col. Samuel Smith. The official bronze marker for soldiers of the War of 1812 was placed at his grave at Lobb Cemetery by the James Kearney Chapter, U. S. Daughters of 1812.
Adam Fisher Sr. served as a private with the Virginia Tropps in First Culpeper County Virginia Line.
