Stamped on the cover of the Bible is "Holy Bible J.A.E. Knight." It is called "Nelson & Phillips' Superfine Edition" of the "New Devotional and Practical Pictorial Family Bible"

The cover page informs the reader that the volume is(among other features)"Embellished with over 1000 Fine Scripture Illustrations."

"Blanche Knight's mother was grief-stricken at this time, having buried her two year old son, Mercer in the Spring when he accidentally fell into a pot of wash water and drowned. She was devastated and blamed herself for not having emptied the pot of water."

John Ambrose Ellis Knight son of M J & C A Knight was born Tuesday august 6th 1828. he was married to Lucy J. Dinning the 19th Oct 1851. his wife died July 19th 1861. They had four children Joseph W. Julia, Emma F. & Mathew Colson. He was married to Henrietta Chiles widow of John Ballenger Chiles, the 19th July 1863. They had six children. Thomas Mercer. Frank & William twins. John Ambrose Ellis. Henrietta Elizabeth & Stevie Laura.

Mrs. Knight Died at Home in Jal

Mrs. Knight, the mother of J. A. E. Knight, of Jal, New Mexico, and grandmother of Ellis Knight, who is connected with the Ford garage here, died Tuesday night, according to a call to Ellis Knight here.

Ellis left early Wednesday morning in a car, and it is reported that the funeral was held in Cooper, New Mexico, Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Knight was advanced in years and had not been in good health for some time. She has a host of friends in this section of the country who deeply grieve her death.

(Note: Obituary apparently came from the "Odessa-American" as her Grandson, J. A. Ellis Knight III worked in a garage in Odessa (Texas) at the time.

(Notations, apparently by Blanche Knight Calley: "Henrietta M. Knight died Jan. 14 - 1925 at her home near Jal, New Mex."
"George Mercer Knight died May 4th 1905 at Merkel Texas. He was seventeen months and four days old, was drowned by falling into a boiler of water that had been left in the yard."
J.A.E. Knight Sr. died August 8th 1927 at his home near Jal. New. Mexico was buried at Cooper N.M.

JA Ellis Knight died Friday morning in a Kermet Tex. Hospital. was killed in a car wreck, He was driving alone. was on his way to Jal New Mexico, we do not know what happened but suppose his car struck something and caused it to run off the road into a ditch. He was buried April 20th 1940 at Midland Texas. Son of John A E Knight and Lillie M. Knight.

James Knight Dies in Kermit

Word was received here Monday on the death of James Frank Knight, pioneer rancher and oil man of Lea County, New Mexico. He was a native of Palo Pinto County. Mr. Knight died in a Kermit hospital.

The son of the late J. E. A. Knight and Mrs. Lillie Knight, he moved with his parents to Winkler in 1900, about the time the county was organized. He spent his entire life in West Texas and New Mexico.

His family helped to organize Lea County, and Andrews County, Texas. Mr. Knight worked on several large ranches when a young man and later managed both his own and his mother's ranches. He was interested in Lea County oil development and was a member of the Jal school board.

Surviving are the widow; two foster sons, Ross and Bennett Easterling, and his mother, all of Jal; four sisters, Mrs. E. R. Dunn, Andrews; Mrs. John Albert, Roswell, N.M.; and Mrs. J. H. Black and Mrs. L. J. Calley, both of Jal.

Services and burial were in Jal Friday, with Rev. L. A. Hughes of Jal, Lt. Jeanie L. Burke Jr., of the Navy, and Rev. G. L. Keever of Austin officiating.

"Lillie Mary Knight died of pneumonia and a kidney ailment in Hogan-Malone Hospital in Big Springs, Texas, October 1, 1952. She was 72 years, 9 months, and 2 days old.

"She was buried on the 4th day of October in the Jal-Cooper Cemetery, with Rev. Clarence L. Stanfield of the Jal Methodist Church officiating.
